Celebrations at the National Fish & Chip Awards 2014.

 

Collins image awadrsCollins Seafoods were thrilled to be part of this event celebrating the best of the fish and chip industry in the UK.

In conjunction with the Marine Stewarships Council (MSC) and the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), Collins Seafoods were proud to sponsor and judge the coveted ‘Good Catch Award’ for 2014.

The category was full of quality fish and chip experts who take pride and care into understanding the value of the sustainable route their fish has taken before they cooked it.

As well as serving sustainable fish, the nominees also needed to show they have continually used their initiative in improving environmental responsibility practices within their business in regards to the fish they buy, serve and promote.

The Good Catch Award also aims to encourage further progress across the fish and chip sector by

increasing awareness of sustainably-sourced fish and the practical support available to businesses.

After several rounds of discussions by the judges, including a mystery customer visit, the award was presented to:

The award ceremony in London was held on the 22nd January  at London’s Lancaster Gate Hotel and was hosted by celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli.

As well as sponsoring and presenting the Good Catch Award, Richard Collins of Collins Seafoods was proud to take part in the judging of the national Fish and Chip Awards for Best Independent Takeaway too, which was presented to The Quayside based in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
