We don’t know about you, but we can’t quite believe it’s nearly the end of September already. The year is sailing by (we guess that’s because we’re always having fun) but at least it means we’re gearing up to celebrate one of our favourite times of the year.
Next Friday October 7th, is the start of Seafood Week. It goes without saying we love Frozen at Sea Cod and Haddock, but a lot of the team are fans of pretty much anything which can be caught at sea, which is why we look forward to this annual event so much.
We’re delighted Seafood Week kicks off with Cod on the first day. With over 10,500 specialist fish and chip shops in the UK, we know the country loves this delicious white fish, so we think it’s only right it should take centre stage at the start of the week.
As well as encouraging people to head to their local chippy to tuck into a portion of Cod and chips, the Seafood Week website encourages people to try making their own homemade version, with an easy to follow recipe.
Seafood Week ends with Haddock as the fish of the day, on October 14th, but between the first day and the last, the website offers a deluge of recipes of the marine type, from mussels to mackerel and prawns to plaice, with tuna and sardines in between. Leaving everyone truly spoilt for choice.
Social media supporters are being encouraged to share their experiences of Seafood Week using #SeafoodWeek. Whether it’s a recipe of their own, a meal in a swanky seafood restaurant or enjoying a portion of fish and chips, they’ve been asked to get tweeting and sharing their moments with fellow ‘Seafoodies’. Anyone who thinks of themselves as a comedian, must also make sure to tweet or comment on Facebook on #fishpunday, which makes its return due to popular demand. If you’re lacking inspiration, we know just the plaice to help you out! http://www.fishpuns.com/
We hope you take the time to back Seafood Week, just as everyone at Collins and Wraggs will be. Whether it’s supporting your local chippy or restaurant by eating out or enjoying a fish family meal, we’d love to see what you get up to.
Tweet us @collinsseafoods and @WraggsSeafoods using the #SeafoodWeek or post to our Facebook pages.
